چکیده

The effect of milking stimulus on the plasma prolactin concentration of lactating cows and goats was investigated by a radioimmunologic procedure. Plasma prolactin level in seven cows was increased abruptly 1 to 2mins. after the start of milking. On the other hand, the level of the hormone was increased shortly before the onset of milking in two cows at early lactation stage. In the goats at mid-lactation stage, milking was followed by a dramatic increase in plasma prolactin concentration within 2 mins. In all the cases, plasma prolactin level reached a peak near the end of milking. The stimuli associated with milking induced an unequivocal and rapid prolactin release from the adenohypophysis in the cow and in the goat.

Prolactin and Other Protein Hormones in Milk 1 ,2

Pituitary prolactin has been quantified by radioimmunoassay in whole milk obtained from cattle, goats, sheep and rats. Prolactin concentrations in milk samples obtained following the completion of lactogenesis approximate concentrations of the hormone in blood plasma or serum. However, concentrations of prolactin in prepartum mammary secretions were much higher than plasma prolactin in prepartu...

Study of Milking Efficiency, Biochemical Milk Composition and Hormonal Blood Parameters of Armenian Goat Breeds for the Second Lactation Period

The purpose of the given work was to study the dairy efficiency of the delivered, local and crossbreed goats in three different generations (F1, F2 and F3), derived from their crosses, as well as the biochemical composition of milk and some bloodplasma hormones, participating in the process of lactopoez. For the biochemical tests of milk we have selected casein and serumproteins, iron in lactof...

LH RELEASE IN RESPONSE TO GnRH D U R I N G THE POSTPARTUM PERIOD OF D A I R Y COWS 1

Postpartum cows (n=25) were assigned randomly to receive an intramuscular injection of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH; 100 /~g) at either 3, 10, 20, 30 or 40 days postpartum (five cows per group). Blood samples were collected via jugular catheter at lO-min intervals from 3 0 to +180 rain and at 30-min intervals from +180 to +420 min after GnRH. Plasma levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), e...

Pectic Acid Effects on Prolactin Secretion in GH3/B6 Rat Pituitary Cell Line

Background: Pectic acid extracted from plants increases the secretion of prolactin (PRL) when injected intravenously into ewes or fed to rats. Fragments of ewe hypophysis and lactating rabbit mammary gland incubated in vitro in the presence of pectic acid secreted more PRL and caseins compared to the controls. However, it is not known whether pectic acid directly stimulates PRL secretion in pi...

Effect of milking behavior on circulatory hormones and milk production in lactating Murrah buffaloes

The effect of milking temperament on plasma hormones, metabolites, milk yield and composition in lactating Murrah buffaloes was studied. Animals were selected from the institute herd and grouped as docile and nervous buffaloes, based on temperament score before and during milking. Blood sampling times were; before milking (-20 min.), after concentrate intake, after teat massage, during milking ...
